Captain Selection & Charter Guidelines
Kokomo Charters operates solely as a yacht charter broker and is not a charter provider, vessel owner, or carrier of passengers. Kokomo Charters brokers bareboat (demise) charter agreements between independent vessel owners and the primary charterer and is not a party to any charter agreement.
Under a bareboat (demise) charter, the primary charterer assumes possession, control, and responsibility for the vessel for the duration of the charter, including responsibility for compliance with all applicable laws and regulations.
As a courtesy, Kokomo Charters may provide the charterer with a list of independent U.S. Coast Guard-licensed captains who are familiar with the vessel. Captains have been vetted and approved by the vessel owner and the vessel’s insurance underwriter.
The primary charterer is not required to use any captain recommended by Kokomo Charters and may retain any qualified captain of their choosing, provided such captain completes the same owner- and insurer-required orientation, approval, and certification process applicable to all captains operating the vessel. All captains and crew are independent contractors engaged by or on behalf of the primary charterer and are not employees or agents of Kokomo Charters.
